#Top Tip Takeaways
Each week we have our amazing guests leave us with some top tips to take away. I will then give further information on each of the takeaways so that you can look into them further in your own time. Use #toptiptakeaways to let us know if there are other takeaways you would like to know about.
1. Sleep
2. Focussed/ Diffused types of learning
3. Working Memory
4. Visuals Support
5. Digital Support
 1. Sleep
Barbara describes sleep as a pivotal part to learning because it helps us get rid of all the waste from our brain.
2. Focused and Diffused modes of learning
These two types of learning are a great way to understand how we learn and the importance of giving our brains a break especially when we are focusing on challenging new learning.
3. Working Memory
When you notice yourself or your learners understanding a topic at different rates compared with others that is their working memory. This video talks about chunking which is a method used to break down information to support understanding.
4. Visual & Physical Support
From my website you can see visuals hold a very big place in my heart and teaching. I totally agree with Barbara's point about using them to support our teaching and empower learners to access their learning and support the point we are trying to make. @KristinWiens makes some amazing visuals that I use to help my learners as well as speaking with parents and staff.  At Stonefields School we use visuals to support our learners when in the learning pit and gift them with vocabulary to help them get out.
5. Digital Learning
I have been part of the Digital Fluency course with Manaiakalani and before I went on this course I would have to be honest and say I was one of the people who considered 'technology as a tool'. However after being on the course I have realised that technology can be used to allow our learners to create and share and enhance their learning overall. This website is a great place to further your understanding about how and why you can use digital technologies to turbocharge learning.
